Putting Commitment into Practice
ISO 14001 Certification
Rogers is working to secure ISO 14001 certification at its manufacturing operations worldwide. ISO 14001 is an
internationally accepted specification for an environmental management system. It specifies requirements for
establishing an environmental policy, determining environmental impacts of products/processes, establishing
environmental objectives and measurable goals, implementation of programs to meet goals, benchmarking and
corrective action, and management review.
Environment, Health & Safety
The company believes it has a responsibility to protect coworkers and the community by making health, safety, and environmental issues a key consideration.
Rogers manufacturing facility in Woodstock, CT, producers of PORON® Urethane and other specialty materials-based
products, is a recipient of the ‘Star’ designation from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA)
Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) for excellent safety performance and systems. The ‘Star’
designation is OSHA’s highest VPP award and is an honor given to facilities that have met the
highest standards in employee and workplace safety. Rogers is actively working to secure
VPP certification for its US manufacturing operations.
A core team of Rogers’ EH&S professionals reviews and approves each capital improvement project request
submitted from Rogers’ facilities worldwide. The team proactively assesses the environmental impact, ensures
compliance with EH&S best practices and mitigates risk to associates, customers and the communities in which we
live and work.
Energy-Management Solutions/Programs
Rogers believes the company has a responsibility to use energy wisely and efficiently. Rogers continues to implement greener lighting, heating and power generation solutions, such as:
 |
Installing energy-star-rated, thermally-efficient, white roofing systems, and light grey roofing systems, on Rogers’ HPFD production facility in Woodstock, CT and Rogers’ Corporate Headquarters, Rogers, CT |
 |
Using clean burning, low sulfur fuel oil to power Rogers’ facilities reducing sulfur dioxide emissions |
 |
Implementing solar lighting and sensor-operated fixtures to reduce power consumption in exterior applications (parking lots) and interior applications (offices and conference rooms) |
 |
Partnering with utilities to find new ways to generate energy savings |
Increased Investment in Cleaner Technology Development
Since 2004 Rogers Technology Development Group has grown its research/development activities in cleaner technologies 45%.
Recycle, Reuse & Reduce Scrap
Rogers is committed to reducing waste.
 |
Virtually all of our waste is either recycled or incinerated by a utility. Approximately 50% of the incinerated waste is burned at waste-to-energy facilities where electricity is generated and sold to a power grid |
 |
A significant portion of our PORON Urethane post production trim materials and scrap roll goods are sold to a recycling company that shreds and then integrates the materials into their product construction |
 |
We use recycled product packaging materials |
 |
We recycle wooden pallets |
